Komrad Mao

Komrad Mao

Comrade means a friend, companion or an ally. When somebody calls you a comrade, he means that you have the same vibration, same goal or same outlook.  For one, left wing groups call their members as comrades. For they have the same ideals, same vision and philosophy. And the most famous comrade of them all was the controversial Mao Tse Tung or Mao Ze Dong. He was often called Comrade Mao.

Komrad Mao is a new player in the food business.

Ambiance at Komrad is rated excellent.

Mao was the founding father of the People's Republic of China.

Komrad Mao was influenced by Marx and Lenin.

Mao's father was a wealthy farmer.

Banking on the prominence of Mao Tse Tung, who ruled China from 1943 to 1976, the owners of a Chinese restaurant located at Eastwood in Libis, Quezon City, named their place KOMRAD, which is followed in small letters by Mao's Hunan and Sichuan Kitchen.  A large wall painting of Komrad Mao can be seen at the eastern end of the restaurant. Framed photos of Mao adorn the walls of the eatery.

Chairman Mao was Time magazine cover for January 13, 1967.

Mao was called the Great Teacher and the Great Leader.

The Mao Cap

The birth of the Communist Party of China was declared on a boat in 1921.

With waiters wearing black shirts with red aprons, food is served at tables painted red and black with markings of a star and a hammer and sickle, all identified with Red China and Komrad Mao. Overhead are Asian lighting fixtures. The restaurant serves the best Hunan dishes.  And why Hunan? Komrad Mao was born in the province of Hunan, famous for its spicy food. Notable dishes are Salt and Pepper Pork Ribs, Crispy Sweet and Sour Pork, General Tso's Chicken, Birthday Noodles and many more.

Komrad Mao can accommodate big groups.

Che Guevarra started it all.  Che's posters, with the Argentine revolutionary hero in black beret and a star embossed in front, can be seen almost everywhere. Nothing wrong with it.  Now comes Komrad Mao. Again, nothing wrong with it. Dining at Komrad Mao does not necessarily make you a communist. Or a subversive. In the same way that dining at Michael Jordan's restaurant does not make you a basketball player or superstar. Or a die-hard fan of the Bulls. Or eating at Joe Dimaggio's resto does not automatically say that you are a New York Yankees fan. So dine now at Komrad Mao.  Rest assured that no ISAFP agents will be stalking you. Promise.

With 50% Chinese blood running through their veins, Andre and Ashley pose with Komrad Mao.

Drawings, graphics and framed photos adorn the eastern wall of Komrad.

Red is the color of the day.
