Springtime In Caroline Springs

Springtime In Caroline Springs

It is now springtime in Caroline Springs. It is cool, it is clement. The wind is blowing south of Melbourne. But temperature can still dip to 7 degrees C at night. Birds are chirping, flying from one gum tree to another. A beautiful, colorful Conure is perched on a tree branch by the side of the road as two commuters wait at the bus stop. It's been awhile since my last visit.

If plants and flowers wither in winter, they now start growing and blooming. Brick red flowers are in full bloom. The Purple flowers and the Mister Williams Rose are too attractive not to notice. Front gardens of houses are beautiful, as always. One smells the scent of Caroline Springs in spring time. It is a distinctive feature.

What used to be a regular roundabout is now a busy intersection. A traffic light mechanism has been installed. There is now a Coles store, plus a KFC outlet and a big school in the area. Progress and development is evident.

The community playground is once again teeming with kids playing in gay abandon. The red tractor, which is my favorite hangout, and the cow swings are still there. Ducks move in groups at a man made lagoon. The blue slide is still everybody's favorite.

It is now time for late breakfast. Corned beef, the real chunky one, farm fresh eggs done sunny side up, roast beef and spam tempt one to forego any self imposed food restrictions. There is a slight drizzle. There is the smell of rain. In spring, often there is intermittent rain. I am in a hurry. There are still other places to revisit in Caroline Springs.
