Port Fairy and Beyond

Port Fairy and Beyond

** Late posting
Written in January 2020, before pandemic days...

Serendip, former name of Ceylon. From it, the word Serendipity was coined which refers to accidental good discovery. Or, simply, stumbling upon something good.

And last Saturday, we had good discoveries when we travelled to Port Fairy, Warrnambool and Peterborough, some 290 kilometers away from Melbourne.

In Port Fairy, its lovely port rivals the ports of Finland, Norway, Denmark, etc. One can see classic boats moored at its jetty.

In Warrnambool, the Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village is incomparable. It is a re-creation of a seaside village in the 1870s.

In Peterborough, the Bay of Martyrs and The Grotto are good discoveries. One sees unusual limestone stacks plus an eyeshot of the rugged coastline.

On our way home, we took the shorter Colac-Melbourne route with picturesque views of the countryside. Much as we wanted to take more photos, our cameras were blinking red. And at the sight of a Red Rooster outlet, we stopped and treated ourselves to its much talked about roast chicken. It was so good I had another order.
