The Old Goulburn Bridge At Seymour
** Late posting
Written in January 2020, before pandemic days...
About 104 kilometers north of Melbourne is the town of Seymour. It is located on the banks of the famed Goulburn River and within the Goulburn Valley, otherwise known as "the valley of a thousand hills".
Now, what is so special about Seymour and the Old Goulburn Bridge? In the old days, those travelling from Melbourne to Sydney would have to cross the Old Goulburn Bridge in Seymour. There was still no freeway bypass then.
When in Seymour, do not be alarmed when you see an Armored Personnel Carrier, an Anti-Aircraft Gun, a Huey Helicopter, a Howitzer or a Centurion Tank at the town proper. Seymour serves as the training center of the Australian Army. During WWI & II and during the Vietnam War, Australian soldiers were in the forefront.
